Ahh, but do they?
Before the new
AvP brand name, both franchises where considered to be separate universes. After
AvP came along though things became a bit muddled and unclear.
The two franchises can still be mutually exclusive. It all depends on how each individual chooses to look upon them. They can either be the same universe or they can be alternate universes.
Anything with
AvP on the box is always considered to be a merging of both universes. But if its just Aliens, or just Predator on the box, then the licence holder can choose to consider them independent universes if he wishes.
For example: Gearbox doesn’t consider Predators part of the Aliens universe. They have said on many occasions that they are making a pure Aliens game. So no
AvP or Predator universe things in Gearbox’s game, just things from the Aliens universe. Also Obsidian’s cancelled RPG game was also said to be an Aliens only universe. The same thing is probably going to be true of Scotts ALIEN 5 prequel. However the 2005 Predator game, Concrete Jungle, did consider Aliens and
AvP to be a part of its universe.
So you see it all depends on the individual.
And considering this is a website for GBX A:CM, then I think it was the right call to leave
AvP in the cover all games section.
