Alien, hands down. It is an example of a perfect film for me. It has stunning visuals that look damn good, and really set the mood for the film. The effects were great, and only one or two looked unconvincing. The characters are real and likable, with each one feeling distinct. You really get a feel for them, and actually care about when they die. The setting is one of the best for any film I have seen. The themes are deep and meaningful, with very disturbing psychosexual images and concepts. The story is well thought out and put together, with lots of mystery. The scares were very real and well-done; it is one of the few films that has actually terrified me. And, of course, it has the eponymous creature.
