Alien 5?

Sigorney Weaver admits, "[Director] Ridley Scott and I have talked about [a fifth Alien film] a couple of times. He has some ideas. If we developed a good script, I'd love to play Ripley again. I've always felt so grateful to Ridley Scott because he gave me my first job. In fact, the first few weeks of "Alien,' I was so green that Ridley would say, 'Don't look at the camera.' And I'd say, 'How can I not look at it. It's right in front of my face all the time!' "

Ask her about plot ideas for a new "Aliens," Weaver says, "The only thing I'm not interested in is going to earth. I saw that 'Star Trek' movie where they went to Earth and ... yawn. I think it's more fun to go to a foreign planet--especially now. Who wants to come to Earth now? Let's go far, far away! Fantasy is what we need!"

So who wants to see a fifth Alien movie? After the disappointing Resurrection, should this series be left to die or can new life be breathed into it?

I'm pretty sure that Ridley Scott couldn't f*ck the series up as that is done by that guy who's name I don't remember, but who was the director of Resurrection.

Actually I'd rather see the Alien movies end where they are. I think that the Resurrection was a total failure and mistake, since Ripley herself is more alien than the greenhorn cargo ship crew member ...

I'd more like to see for example the life and the struggle for surviving on the colonized planet before in Aliens the troopers came. That would give a fresh look on the events, plus there won't be any oldschool characters (including Ripley). You know .. like a view from another angle what was happening on the planet.

Basically - if it's not like view of another angle without Ripley and others, then I'd rather see the Aliens franchise die with the disappointing Resurrection as the final nail in the Alien coffin.

You might be interested in checking out Newt's Tale.

"A graphic novel based on the film Aliens. In a nightmare which replays itself endlessly, Newt dreams of the planet Acheron, where her family discovered a strange alien craft, and of her horror when a monstrous abomination burst from her father's chest. But Newt's nightmare is only beginning."

Resurrection was not a disappointment, it was a work of art in my personal opinion. Anyway, the whole going to a foreign planet is explored in a fan-fic I wrote about Alien 5

While we're on the subject, Ridley Scott has been confirmed to helm the Alien prequel, for those of you who don't know it yet.

Well, I'm still a little skeptic.

Many people lose their magic when age kicks in, like Spielberg. Or Carrot Top.

We'll just have to wait and see, as usual.

Supposedly the prequel in the works will have nothing to do with Ripley. It would be hard to imagine one with her anyhow. BTW, Resurrection wasn't as bad as the first AVP in my opinion.
