Alien 5...A Prequel?

Alien 5 could be a very interesting look back into the history of H.R. Giger's alien species itself. I think it would be nice to see an origin of the alien Xenomorph species. A prequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece "Alien", ending with the crash of the derelict space craft on LV426. The film could also draw a conclusive tie between the Alien series, the Predator series and the Alien vs Predator series...as they are undoubtably related. Possibly starting on the far off planet of the space exploring creatures we found preserved in their derelict space craft, giving background to their origins as well. As for Sigourney Weaver making a re-appearance, this is a must! Maybe as an ancestor of Ellen Ripley? Either way as a designer who takes inspiration from these films as well as a fan, I think it is imperative that we know the origins of this fascinating species!

Just a thought

I don't want them to go back to earth or involve predators at any point during this movie! I want them to go back to the old school alien and just make it about survival and the unknown! Let them go back and discover how the aliens got there and how they were created! I do hope that Weaver is involved, but she has to fit into a role!

Prequel

Yes, I agree! Earth has never been and never should be a setting for any of the alien movies...the 5 minutes at the end of Alien Resurrection is enough! It would be great to see some more planets as well as reveal another species...and show some new variations of the xenomorph species.

The idea of Aliens on earth is explored in some of the EU books, namely Earth Hive. I thought the idea was brilliant.

Since they are in fact doing an Alien prequel, I hope they use live puppets and studio built sets. I cant stand all of this CGI crap out now. I understand it's easier to do, but it looks so fake to me.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts about Alien 5 in this thread, instead of making a new one.

I love all the Alien movies, especially Aliens and Alien: Resurrection.

I love Aliens, because its amazing how real the aliens look, for being people in suits, its my understanding they only had about 6 suits, so making it seem there were aliens everywhere was brilliant editing. And the real masterpiece, her majesty the Queen, an awesome puppet operated by, what, 12 people, including 2 people wedged inside, and the whole thing hanging from a crane? and you see no cables, in any scene!, Man, that thing gives me a major feeling of hopelessness when she's charging at Ripley and Newt (even though I've watched it countless times). The powerloader is also amazing, (too funny about Sigourney Weaver talking about the guy she had to practically sit on while operating it bahahaha, and the sick prank they played on her!, Only a dude would think of that!). The Dropship scenes and all the miniature scenes were incredible as well.

I think Alien 3 was the first to use CGI Aliens, and honestly it looked terrible, I know it must have been good for its time, but its kinda crappy now a-days.

I love Alien: Resurrection because Ripley is back (Duh! Ripley is too bad ass to die!) Also, I've said this many many times, but its effin' scary how much Sigourney Weaver and my Mom looked alike back in 1996-1997, I've got to find a picture of Mom from back then, I'm gonna post it hahaha. Also, the Bitch is back! (the very same puppet I believe, some guy bought it at auction after Aliens and they had to borrow it back for Resurrection haha. The CGI in Resurrection was not bad, at least most of the aliens were puppets/men in suits (Tom Woodruff Jr.).

I was thinking about how great Alien 5 would be, but Sigourney Weaver NEEDS to be in it as Ripley, and not as a cameo. I believe she's not too old, sure, she's 61 but she easily passes for 50 (and 50 is the new 40). They left Resurrection wide open, they ended up on Earth, but they could easily leave Earth and go to another planet.

I've just watched the movie TRON: Legacy tonight, and it honestly took Mom and I 3 quarters of the movie to realise Clu was CGI and not a young Jeff Bridges look-alike who was lip syncing (or at least his face was CGI) What if they did that for Ripley in Alien 5? but used men in suits and puppets for the Aliens.

Although I still strongly believe Sigourney could still do it without CGI

Just my thoughts

By the way, I mean "Alien 5" as in a sequel, not a prequel

um people sorry to say but the alien prequal was canned, ridly decided to go forth and make a completely diffrent series ,but on the brightside,we dont have to see anymore alien/human hybrids ,actually alien resurection wasnt half bad, they could and should have gone deeper with the hybrid thing,i actually thought it was interesting, but i never understood how they were able to clone ripley with the alien in her, does anyone know?

They had a sample of her DNA from Fury 161 in Alien 3, shortly after she crashed on the planet, after she had been impregnated with the Queen Alien baby

There're new rumours about Prometheus; apparently It is going to be definitely based on the aliens universe and not a Scott's side project like he implied in their latest inteviews. Everything is pointing in that direction, and It looks this time is true.

yes the CGI effects for the runner sucked indeed, but the scenes where the runner is a puppet and a man in a suit are of a very very high level of quality, making the runner a very very very scary creature on the screen.

Man in a suit is the way to go; CGI aliens don't even scare you and are too artificial. This could also help to reduce the so so abused crawl/walking abilities of the human born alien that Cameron sadly introduced, making the human born alien feel even less scary and less human-like.

I have liked Tron Legacy actually; i think the original film was 17357434 times more beautiful and original for Its time, but the new one is ok. I just dislike the new "wear" style when inside the Grid (old style at least made sense with the circuits), and again the abuse of the Matrix-like movements on the Disc Wars, specially for Rinzler, the now corrupted Tron. The old Deathmatches with the disc in the old movie were better imo, and more beautiful.

Also, you sure the young version of Jeff Bridges is CGI?, with a hair cut combined with a yellow overtone to match his old hairstyle, and then good shave off you have Jeff Bridges looking like that exactly.

Even Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley/Tron) plays again the role of Tron in CLU'S betrayal scene. Yes It is him, just another hair cut with the 80 style he had, some heavy makeup to disguise the so noticeable lines due to age when he plays the role of Bradley, and there you have It, no CGI, just Bruce.

Classic scenes like the old one when Tron rises his disc in order to contact his programmer (Alan 1, Bradley) (like If his were a man talking to God) are iconic, and this new one with Sam exiting the Grid with the hot hot h.., I mean with Quorra is very cool as well thanks to the music, perhaps.

Talking about Its BSO, It's pretty cool. Daft Punk = win
