AvP game info

Aliens vs Predator is an entirely new title for PC and high-definition consoles from acclaimed British developer Rebellion, the team behind the 1999 original PC gaming classic.

Bringing the most intense war between two of science-fiction’s most popular characters FPS fans, AvP delivers three outstanding single player campaigns and provides untold hours of unique 3-way multiplayer gaming.

Experience distinctly new and thrilling first person gameplay as you survive, hunt and prey in the deadly jungles and swamps surrounding the damned colony of Freya’s Prospect.

- As the Marine, you’ll experience a claustrophobic and terrifying experience where light is your friend, but there’s never enough. However, the United States Marine Corps are humanity’s last line of defence, and as such they are armed to the teeth with the very latest in high explosive and automatic weaponry.

- As the Predator, you will stalk from the shadows and from above, passing athletically through the treetops to ambush your victims. Although equipped with an array of powerful, exotic weapons and tracking equipment, honour ultimately dictates that you must get in close and take your trophies face to face.

- As the most deadly species in the universe, the Alien offers you the chance to play as the very stuff of nightmares - the monster in the dark swarming forward with countless others, jaws like a steel trap and claws like blades.

- Play all sides off against each other in a series of unique 3-way online modes and go tooth-to-claw-to-pulse rifle in the reinvention of one of multiplayer gaming’s defining moments.

I hope the Predator playing mode is not too terrible. Games that require stealth to progress through them can usually be really good or really bad.

I wonder if there will be a split screen co-op. I can't find anything mentioned about it. I was only going to buy the game to help ACM get released sooner but the more I see and hear about the AVP game the more intrigued I get about it. I'm actually (and surprisingly) looking forward to it.

The '99 version was very 'meh' in the single player modes, although the early levels of the Marine campaign were terrifying - I regularly emptied entire clips into the shadows thinking I'd seen movement.
The real shine was in the multiplayer modes. They'd worked hard on balancing the various classes, and it showed. No one species had a massive advantage over the others, although it was pretty tough work playing as the Marines with good Alien and Predator players on the server.
If they can ensure that the balance is still there in this one, I think we could have a real smash hit multiplayer game on our hands.

As for split-screen co-op, I'd guess that it's unlikely, but you can never be 100% sure.

Yeah. I suppose they would have mentioned split-screen up front like they did for ACM if it were the case. But everything I've heard about the online multiplayer modes of this game sound pretty amazing. Being the alien sounds like it would be the most difficult to land an attack but from what I understand, the player in that situation will have numbers on their side. Sounds pretty interesting to me.

Never played the old AVP though...

I thought it was a pretty decent game. I think this next one will suck the big one though.

the game looks promising but I hope they don't make one side to over powered because then the game will get boring really fast

I was just wondering who is planing on getting AVP and if you are for what system
