Spoiler:
The A L I E N

I N T R O D U C T I O N

"Can you feel It?, It's fear and despair overtaking you. Only then can you feel death is working around; only then your body is frozen in terror; only then you feel It's too late..., It's only then that you see It coming; the worst of your nightmares has come to play Its twisted game with you

Only then can everyone hear you scream in terror".

Sometimes, and alien can be born far away the pressence of a purebreed and Its powerful hive mind link; it's only under such circumstances that the situation could take a twist, and the birth of a superior and grim entity might be a certainty, the birth of a loner alien.

Shrouded in mystery, a loner alien is a creature that differs in too many aspects to the hive mind creature we are used to facing in combat and our most feared foe, the one we call "warrior", and whatsmore, It practically differs in all aspects to any other type of these organism we have ever encountered before. The first and most noticeable difference is Its very body structure; it can only be described as some sort of bio-mechanical "thing" or machine, not an organism at all, maybe half machine half organism that imitates the body structure of Its host, some sort of perverted form of the unfortunate human who served as host for this abomination. The second physical difference is Its size; this type of creature can be 20 cm. taller than the hive mind warrior, and It's obviously stronger than the last mentioned. The third and perhaps most important physical difference is Its head; as opposed to the ridged schemes heads that the hive mind warriors show, this one has a smooth and head, things that we believe indicates us we are facing a loner alien that doesn't belong to any hive, which is never good news.

But the biggest difference in this creature is Its behaviour and Its methods; as opposed to the hive mind warrior, a loner alien takes the psychological traits of Its host, which results in a creature behaving very similar to any other human; this combined with Its twisted killing procedures really help to spread the panic among our men as soon as they feel a creature like this is in the nearbies, stalking them, hunting them one by one; only one of this creatures can actually break the morale of a whole squad in a matter of minutes, leaving them defenseless against the attacks of other alien enemy types, making of this alien a threat of unimaginable proportions to all those unfortunate enough to have an encounter with such creature.

Attracted by recent activity in this sector, you dare enter hostile territory. You have come to play your part in the war against the marines; highly sophisticated and independent organism there's nothing that can be compared to you. You are the A L I E N, and wherever you may roam your foes shall meet their doom in you and you alone, so let them know the true meaning of fear and also support your hive mind brothers while you avoid any contact with them at the same time.

QUICK BRIEFING

- Supreme human born alien, rare variant.
- 2'50 meters tall
- Black body, smooth head
- Intriguing, mysterious, slow paced, behaves very similar to the humans. Bound to hide and ambush opponents with their guard off, avoids direct engagement.
- Can break the morale of a whole squad in a matter of minutes If left unchecked.
- Neither belongs to a hive nor It is under the influence of the nearest purebreeed, so It can't be found in an already stabilized hive; however, some squads report to have seen a few of these specimens wandering in the outsides, and sometimes deep inside one of these hives apparently attracted by the very pressence of the squad.
- Highly resilient to most firing weapons and incredibly strong, can hold Its own against almost anything.
- Clever, malicious, should become top priority as soon as It's pressence is known to the enemy before It's too late.
- Lives for a matter of days only, a week perhaps.

ROLE TIPS

The A L I E N is primarily a support unit focused on psychological warfare that heavily relies on stealth and morale damage. The player who chooses to be the A L I E N must keep in mind two basic rules for the sake of is team mates; the first one to take advantage of the permanent morale damage you inflict on the marines when you are on a distance and avoid direct confrontation, just stalking and taking down one of them very carefuly, and then flee into the shadows again. It's the job of the warriors and the drones to engage the marines all the time, but the constant psychological damage you can inflict on them will pay great dividends and make their job a lot easier. The second rule is to avoid any contact with the warriors, the drones and the young praetorian; ignoring this may mean the difference between success and failure, and a total disaster for your team.

Just take advantage of your cloak, lurk in the shadows, demoralize them and make good use of your extraordinary strength and morale breaking abilities. Indeed, a good A L I E N player could mean the difference between succes or failure for the alien team since the psychological warfare/morale damage is a crucial part of the game, and the A L I E N unit plays the biggest part on this subject.

Play smart, be patient before attacking since you are already doing psychological damage, take down some of them when the situation is perfect, and avoid engagement with the marines when the warriors are already fighting them, but remember that above anything else you must avoid any contact with the alien warriors..., just like marines you ain't wellcome here.

GENERAL SKILLS / SPECIAL ABILITIES

- Beign the perfect organism, the A L I E N has no real physical weaknesses other than Its slow speed and clumsy wall-walking abilities. You are extremely resilient to pulse rifle and smartgun fire; only the flamethrower and some special ammonition that only the tech-com can deliver to the marines will hurt you in some serious way.

- Clumsy wall-walking skills, slow paced, you are faster when on your two.

- Stealthy, silent, almost invisible. You don't show up on the motion tracker unless you are spotted.

- You have a permanent cloaking effect that makes you almost invisible in almost all circumstances, specially in complete darkness as long as the drones are doing their job by spamming with resin every single wall that can be infested. The synthetic and the tech com with one special upgrade can spot you anytime; when this happens and they are also next to his marine buddies, you will now be visible for all of them and also will show on their motion trackers until you leave the zone and are out of everyone's sight. Cloak won't be back till you manage to be out of everyone's sight, moment at which you won't be also shown as a dot on their motion trackers.

- You have a very strong claw attack. You can use your tail to whip your enemies too; a successful whip with your tail will knock down a marine, leaving him defenseless before new attacks. You can also grab your enemy and perform many different executung moves by doing the right key combinations after a successful grab.

- You leave a trail of a pretty disgusting saliva-like substance everywhere you go which indicates the humans you have been or have recently passed over there (Dalla's nightmare in the vents). You don't show up on their motion trackers, plus your cloak always works (until spotted or shot), but the humans can track you down following this trail, so watch your footing, and remember that some ocassional wall walking might confuse them while they follow your trail. The trail will be almost unnoticeable in all those zone that have infested by the drones, but will be noticed with ease in any other surface or non-infested place. The trail will dinamically dissapear from the screen (from one extreme to another until It reaches your current positionin case you are now standing still) every 20 seconds.

The synthetic will see the trail very clearly in any moment, and the tech-com marine will do so as long as he carries an special tool/upgrade that allows him to do such thing among others.

- "UNSPEAKABLE HORROR" (Passive ability). You inflict morale damage on the marines as long as you are near them, but this doesn't mean you need to have them in sight for that to happen, just in the nearbies. This is your most powerful weapon against the marines since they fear you above everything else; you are their true nightmare, so take advantge of the situation and demoralize until they are about to collapse and become easy targets for the warriors..., and for you. This is a passive ability and core part of the game. (morale damage system).

- There exists a penalty system that acts as a counter part for the morale damage system. Like marines you are also an intruder to the hive and the praetorian don't want you on Its territory. You must avoid direct encounters with any other alien you can find on the battlefield, otherwise the morale damage system will stop working on the marines and your team will suffer from severe penalties applied to each unit, which can come to a dramatic reduction of the speed of the alien warriors and drones to very low damage inflicted by the enemy. The longer you stay in the sights of the alien warriors/drones/runner/praetorian, the higher and more severe the effects of the penalty system on the whole alien team. You must make your alternate way in the war against the humans alone, always. Otherwise get ready to face severe consequences, you and the whole team.

- "MALEVOLENCE" Special grab attack. A loner alien is something more than a rare variant of the human born type which not only takes physical traits of Its host, but also the psychological ones; You represent the human dark side and the worst of their nightmares as you truly enjoy every single second with the sole vision of your prey frozen in terror before your mere presence. Perhaps the most deeply disturbing out of all the finishing moves that the aliens have at their disposal offer, you won't only finish your "Toy" in such a painful and malevolent way like the one delivered to LAMBERT in A L I E N, you'll also make him leave moments of true panic while he awaits the killing blow. This is a special grab move which takes 22 seconds before you eventually finish your marine opponent; An animation similar to "lambert's torment" will be played on screen; the marine will scream out loud in terror while witnessing with his own eyes the terror of such creature enjoying every single second of his suffering, awaiting the final blow that should put an end
to his suffering.

The screams of your victim will echo all around the map and will utterly demoralize the marine players unless you are stopped in time; however, these screams will also reveal your position, which means you are taking many chances while performing this special attack since you won't be able to stop the animation until It ends, leaving you very exposed to the marines who can quickly track down your position. If you are stopped before the animation ends, meaning this that you have been killed, the marine victim will live, although he will remain completely demoralized due to such a terrible experience for at least 15 seconds, and unless a sergeant is leading the marines, his moral recovery will take longer than under the common morale. If you aren't stopped in time, the morale of the marines will take a heavy blow, leaving them almost completely demoralized unless marines have a sergeant leading them instead of a tech-com. The longer the animation takes, the higher the morale damage on the marine squad no matter their location on the map.

The A L I E N will show up on the marine motion tracker for the 22 seconds that this special ability lasts; also, the direction from which the screams come might help to locate the A L I E N and Its victim before It is too late.

This ability has a cooldown of 8 minutes.

- "REVENANT": Marines with a few morale points left not only see a clear degradation on their skills and movements but also on their concentration; they're now bound to lose the focus or the attention on the things more than ever before, and losing the focus in the middle of a fight may lead to face severe consequences, specially when the enemy can come from any direction or angle in any moment, like the aliens.

Like a ghost emerging from the shadows, like the worst of your nightmares suddenly taking real form behind you, the A L I E N can pop up behind a completely demoralized marine wihtout warning and deal a killing blow that will put and end to his already regrettable status via quick decapitation.

This is a special active ability that consist on direct teleportation behind a marine unit that shows up in red colour (completely demoralized marine) on the "morale vision" mode that is unique to the alien team. The prey must be in your vision range at any moment and your cloak working too, which means he neither can see you nor you show up on his motion tracker, otherwise you can not use this ability. Also, you won't be able to perform this special move If there are mates around your chosen prey who are aware of your presence or have spotted you.

You must switch to "morale vision" mode and target a completely demoralized marine that will show up in red colour on your screen in order to execute this active ability. After beign successful at killing him you now become visible to anyone who was next to him, you lose your cloak and show up on the motion tracker. Recovering the cloak and the invisibility on their trackers will requiere the usual procedure, to be out of the sight of any marine unit as soon as you can and scape the battle zone.

This is an active ability that has a cooldown of 10 minutes. All those marines who witness the quick and cruel decapitation on their mate will suffer from additional morale damage.

- "SPECTER": The constant psychological damage and influence you exert on the marines can sometimes make them seeing things that aren't really there, specially when they are bordering on madness and are about to collapse (low or no morale points left), moment at which the thin line that separates sanity from madness might break. This is quite an useful ability when the android is always next to his mates and you can not take advantage of your cloaking effect in order to ambush them. It can also be useful when you want to have some advantage over one or two marines tracking you, or who have spotted you.
This is an active ability which effects on the marines vary depending on the ammount of morale damage points left per marine unit.

The marines will see a false image of you (you are now uncloaked after executing this ability); this represents them having Hallucinations. The lower the morale points a marine unit currently has, the more number of false images of the A L I E N unit he will see. A marine player full of morale points will see one image of you only (he'll see you and your fake). A completely (or almost) demoralized marine will see up to 5 giger-aliens (you and 4 fakes of you). Fakes imitate your movements. When a marine shoots one fake, this will dissapear OF HIS SCREEN ONLY (not for the others who still could be having their own Hallucinations); this tries to simulate a marine realizing about this false alien being only an hallucination of his. A fake will not dissapear from the screen of a marine player until It gets shot BY HIM ONLY since he is the only one who can see your his own hallucinations, not his partners.

This is an active ability. These phsycological effects on the marines will last for at least 3 minutes once executed. The ability has a cooldown of 8 minutes.

- "TORMENTOR": The threat of unimaginable proportions that you represent to the psychological stability of the members of the squad is something that doesn't go unnoticedto their sergeants; they encourage the quite often "unstable" minds of their "sweethearts" under their command and, as It could not be any other way, this makes of your noble job of bringing doom to the marine boys a way more difficult task to accomplish, so perhaps killing the source of all your problems
may give you and your hive mind brothers some advantage in battle. However, sergeants ain't weak opponents, pretty much the opposite, so once again stealth and patience will pay greater dividends when a sergeant is now your chosen prey.

This ability has two phases. The first one consist on re-directing the full morale damage system right on the marine sergeant, focusing all your morale breaker efforts on him only, giving his "sweethearts" a break..., for now. The always unbreakable morale of a sergeant will now be put to test, so the true test of a leader will just begin once you first target the sergeant unti and execute this active ability. The "Tormentor" ability focuses primarily on the ability of the marine sergeant to give orders to his "sweethearts", that at the same time serves to keep the "kids" in line and also maintain their morale high, since they actually see authority as a good sign and that they are under the command of a leader who can handle such situation; that makes them feel safer, raises their morale, and so does the self-confidence of the sergeant, increasing the power and morale restoring effects of the aura he emits permanently.

You need to remain undetectable, which means your cloak working and not showing on their motion trackers; the sergeant needs to have lost at least a 40% of morale points for this ability to have any effect on him. Once executed, the morale of the sergeant will be completely broken for 20 seconds, and he won't be able to give orders to the "sweethearts", like a "cover me" or "assist me" that would be very much needed at this moment. The image of their leader beign psychologically broken and unable for giving orders will confuse the rest of the marines, lowing their morale very quickly during these 20 seconds of uncertainty.

Killing the sergeant during these 20 seconds of confusion will activate the second phase of the "TORMENTOR" ability, which consist on every single marine unit not beign able to go above 50% of their morale points during their next spawn, which means their skills and movement speed reduced by half a whole turn till they die and respawn again.

This is an active ability with a cooldown of 12 minutes no matter you are successful at killing the sergeant during the confusion or not. The standard morale damage system stops working on all those units who are under the effects of the "TORMENTOR" ability during that re-spawn; however, other types of morale damage coming from any other alien unit will affect the marines as usual.

__________________________________________________ _____________

"Only 2 hours have passed since we entered the hive and commenced the attack and we've had already got 6 casualties, two in our last skirmish with those vicious creatures and 4 against just..., what?, there's something sinister working around here, hunting us one by one, but we still can't see It. The first to dissapear was our synthetic, just wonder why?; after that, 3 more of us dissapeared, beign suddenly dragged into air vents or directly into darkness; we know It's one of these creatures, but not exactly like them, at least Its behaviour isn't; we were able to hear the cries our last man to fall, screaming in terror there into darkness, but when we tracked him down and finally reached his position, the only thing we found was his dead corpse whose face was still telling a lot about the horror he had suffered before dying.

Our sergeant is like a shield, taking care of us all and keeping our morale as high us possible under such terrible circumstances. Only two of us and our sergeant remain. We are resuming our mission, heading to the lower levels. It's been 30 minutes without another attack of this..., thing, but we still can feel Its pressence, watching us in the shadows, stalking us, waiting for the perfect moment to strike at us again. I don't know how much more of this we can take, but I can't stop wondering myself about this mysterious thing..., is It real, or we are just beign haunted by our own demons since we still haven't been able to see It just once?", is It only a product of our imagination only?, only three of us, guess I will find that out very soon".

Hey I like your Idea but I have a few questions

1. the giger alien is this a short form of somthing and is it from a movie or did you make it up

2. Now you say that in round 2 the marines can't respond, can the aliens and also why can the Android respond then (or was I reading it wrong)

3. Why would the giger alien want to hurt his own team or in turn why would his own team hurt him

4. Now I know that if the Marines win the first round then the PRAETORIAN doesn't become a queen but then what happens is round 2 the same as round 1 just with no responing, and also if the aliens win and the PRAETORIAN does become a queen then what

5. in the first round is it just strait up team death match pritty much

6. what will happen when a team is demoralized do they freeze or is it harder to aim (I'm sorry if you already said this I just cant remember)

7. when the android gives everyone a motion tracker ability does this mean they select it or does it appear in the bottom of the screen

Hey Red, thanks for taking your time reading the post.

Ok, let,s start:

Quote:
1. the giger alien is this a short form of somthing and is it from a movie or did you make it up
The Giger alien is the alien from the first movie.

Quote:
2. Now you say that in round 2 the marines can't respond, can the aliens and also why can the Android respond then (or was I reading it wrong)
can,t respawn you mean?, if so, then yes, the marines will not be able to respawn during the second round, and at this point the medic player obviously becomes extremely important to the marines in order to revive them in case they fall.

The marines have to prevent the praetorian molting into a queen, that,s their primary goal in this MP mode. That,s why the things get that ugly to then in the second, because they have failed on their duty during the first round.

The respawn time for the aliens will take longer, specially for the runner player. The queen does not respawn in the second round. If she dies, the match is over.

Please, explain better what you mean in regards with the android during the secons assault.

Quote:
3. Why would the giger alien want to hurt his own team or in turn why would his own team hurt him
The giger alien doesn,t hurt his own team. The warriors don,t tolerate the pressence of any outsider to the hive, and when they spot a giger alien their first reaction should be to attack and kill It. Due to the fact that this actually can not be done in game, I have translated this hostile reaction to the giger alien into the form of a penalty for the alien team, already explained in the giger alien and warrior section. The key to avoid these unwilling encounters for the sake of the alien team relies on the runner player.

The giger alien is an alien born far away from a hive or from any other alien infestation, and unlike the warriors, he isn,t submitted to any queen or sort of hive mind coming from her. Also, unlike the long lifespan of the warrior, the giger alien lives only for a matter of weeks, or perhaps days, but everything that lives near from this creature will know the meaning of fear as soon as this creature is ready to move on. This creature is just a nightmare and a threat to anything sorrounding It. It,s the alien.

Now you might ask..., and then, why does this alien fight in the alien team providing all those important advantages to the warriors and to the team in general (the darkness feature for example)? = Here on this MP mode, the battle taking place between the humans and the aliens in a hive next to Its position has attracted It, definitely taking his attention, so It joins the battle in the seek for new victims (the alien is just meant to do that..., killing), so It enters the hive and of course, the fray, doing the things he usually does when he,s alone, marking Its territory with resin and killing things in the way. The warriors just take advantage of the things the giger alien is doing while It works Its alternative way against the humans, but that doesn,t mean that the prae and the warriors are going to tolerate Its pressence..., It,s just another outsider more, but with the difference that It,s an outsider that may bring some advantages to the hive, until It,s driven from the hive, or more possibly, until It dies at the hands of a pack of warriors.

Another critical reason that leads me to make things like this, is due to the experience for the marine team when playing..., this will ensure that the marines ALWAYS encounter the giger alien alone, and this brings us back that special "feeling" coming from this unique alien. Also note there is just one giger alien player, ensuring this feeling even more.

The giger alien is meant to be the following things in this MP game: The medic (infested walls healing feature for the warriors), a support unit (infested walss darkness feature, the morale damage on the marines, etc), and an ambusher (he,s stealthy, doesn,t show up on the motion tracker, only the android can see It coming, etc). Furthermore, is the strongest alien right after the prae and the superior runner in case the runner player is now one of those.

Quote:
Now I know that if the Marines win the first round then the PRAETORIAN doesn't become a queen but then what happens is round 2 the same as round 1 just with no responing, and also if the aliens win and the PRAETORIAN does become a queen then what
If the marines win the first round the match is over, so there is no second round (the praetorian is supposed to be eliminated). On the other hand, if they lose, then that means they have failed on killing the prae, It molts into a queen, an a second and last round starts. Unlike the first round, this last second round is NOT TIMED. The queen is the only alien that will not respawn during the second round, If the queen player is killed, the match is over, and the marines win, but that doesn,t mean that killing the queen is gonna be that easy.

Then what?, now there is a queen, marines can not respawn, so the medic becomes extremely important now, the passive abilities of the praetorian are now even better, 10 AI controlled facehuggers spam every 2 minutes, and more. Everything gets uglier for the marines..., they have failed on their first goal you know, but that doesn,t necessarily mean they are going to lose, all is just harder now.

Quote:
5. in the first round is it just strait up team death match pritty much
Yes, It,s a basically a TDM, but as you can see when you read about the mechanics of the game and specially, the mechanics of the units, then you learn this is not exactly the typical TDM..., I,d even dare say that It has nothing to do with the typical TDM we already know, specially when we are talking about the second and final round.

Quote:
6. what will happen when a team is demoralized do they freeze or is it harder to aim (I'm sorry if you already said this I just cant remember
Their skills such as the accuracy, speed, and damage start decreasing as long as they start being demoralized. When the morale bar of a human player is empty, then the morale damage reaches Its maximum effect on the human player. (low accuracy, low damage, low speed...). The sergeant may be the key in all those situations, or the android in order to spot the responsible of this, the giger alien. so that you marines can kill It before this alien, or an incoming pack of warriors kill you all.

Quote:
7. when the android gives everyone a motion tracker ability does this mean they select it or does it appear in the bottom of the screen
All marine players have It already displayed on screen., as well as the aliens have a map display thanks to the runner unit. When the android is killed, the marines won,t have this feature available until the droid respawns again, and that,s 25 seconds without It. Same goes to the alien team when the runner is killed.

The higher the level of the android, the better the range of the motion tracker.

oK now everything makes sence thanks and I love how everyone is important and if one person doesn't do their job it could be the end of the game

one thing though, none of the marines can respond during the second round right (Android included)?

Also before the game starts do people select what team/class they want to be or is it random. what if 2 people wanted to be the smart gunner for example, wouldn't this cause an argument and the Team would be purmanatly fighting with eachother and then the game wouldn't be fun for the other players, how would you fix that or would that just be somthing the player have to live with (just wondering)

Android included. If a marine dies during this last round, he,s out of the game (also remember that the android can,t be revived even during the first round, and when he,s killed during the first round, his respawn will take 25 seconds). The medic here, his health packs, and the ability to revive a fallen marine that has not suffered from a hardcore death, all of this become more important than ever.

But remember, losing the droid in the second round means:

-No more motion tracker feature. Now you and your team won,t be aware of an incoming attack by the warriors, praetorian or runner, or all of them.

-your team is now unable to spot the giger alien until It attacks, which means, until It,s too late for the marine being attacked, and the giger alien does perform hardcore kills, meaning this that the fallen marine could not be revived by the medic, in case this last one still lives of course.

-No mine traps (They are very useful against all the aliens but the runner, the only one that can spot and erradicate them)

-The radar of the runner alien (the map for the alien team) no longer can be interfered and also, It will no longer suffer from sporadic shut downs, and you know, the giger player and the warriors will be perfectly aware of their current positions, and their attacks will be perfectly coordinated and penalty free. (the giger will be demoralizing you all, and killing one marine from time to time, while you are too busy facing the warrior swarm and being too demoralized at the same time..., and If the praetorian is there too supporting Its warriors with Its passive and active abilities and Its own strenght then..., and what If a superior runner appears there too and join the party in that ugly situation for your team during the last round...

-Since the android is the only one that can see in complete darkness, then I hope the marines make good use of their should lamp batteries. How is the flamethrower marine going to see the infested walls now ,so that he can destroy some of them and bring some "brightness" on the map as fast as he can?, the android also the only one that can mark zones with flares (extremely useful to mark the infested walls to the flamethrower marine when darkness is absolute and the shoulder lamp batteries are empty and waiting for cooldown, so that he can take them out).

This is just one little example of the importance of one single unit, specially during the second and last round. The rest are equally important, but for different things and situations.

There should be random team/character selection, and normal. It,s impossible to solve the situation you talking about. Games like quake wars constantly suffers from situations like these, and nothing can be done in this regard. But like in quake wars, you play very good games from time to time with people that perfectly understands his role in battle. The only difference here between QW and this hypothetical MP mode would be that, you don,t need to understand your role only..., you gotta master It, as well as your team mates.

I know that to master your character, and playing with people that have mastered theirs is critical in this game, but when on the internet, a novice in your team is something that can not be avoided, unless there is some sort of stats ala warhammer 40000..., thanks to this you should avoid playing with people that may screw you and your team.

I can not think on something more in order to solve this. Perhaps in those stats you can see how many times a player has used some specific character or something like that, so that you all know what role suits him better.

Gah! I'm still not done reading the whole thing. So far it looks interesting, yes, and any questions I may have had have already been answered. Good stuff!
